Your plumbing are operating nonstop, all day, every day. At any time you brush your teeth, flush the toilet, wash dishes, run the washing machine, or shower, your pipes are functioning. That's a lot of water to maneuver, and a great deal of work to do!

All that work and water can wear out of your plumbing. As time passes, they can thin out, start leaking, and sometimes even burst! You can't prevent your pipes from wearing out entirely, but you can make it happen much more slowly. With a little TLC and effort, you can make your plumbing last a lot more than they could otherwise. Here are six simple ways to do that:

Make sure your water pressure is in the right level.

High water pressure will work out pipes and their relations faster the harsher it's. Check that your house's PSI remains below 85 to guarantee pipe security.

If you're worried about water pressure issues, think about installing a water pressure gauge so that you can keep a closer eye on it.

Don't use chemical drain cleaners.

Chemical drain cleaners can not tell the difference between the clogs they are clearing and the pipes they're in. Once they eat away a congestion, they will keep eating off. Using chemical drain cleaners frequently can inflict irreparable harm to your pipes.

Do not leave leaks alone.

Small leaks might seem like no big deal, but unfortunately they are. The continuous drip-drip-dripping of even the tiniest escape wears away in the connections with time. As flows wear away at your pipe, they develop. As leaks grow, they wear off in the pipe more. It's the worst kind of vicious cycle--a costly one.

Invest in routine drain cleaning.

The more gunk builds upon the inside of your plumbing, the more work they have to do to transfer water. Finally, all that work might wear out the interiors of your plumbing till they start leaking… or worse.

Cleaning your drains out on (at least) a yearly basis will allow you to stay away from build-up. They'll will work more efficiently and also you won't need to be worried about leaks or clogs.

Don't flush items which are not supposed to be deciphered.

A toilet is a toilet, not a garbage can. Do not flush things which don't have any business being flushed. Including wet wipes--regardless of what the tag states. When you flush trash, wrappers, or similar items down the toilet, parts of these things break off in your pipes. Over time, those broken off pieces collect other debris and form clogs.

Debris clogs produce choke points. Choke points create areas where too much pressure builds up. When too much pressure builds up, it creates flows, flows, or back-ups. Long story short: flushing non-flush-able materials will hurt your pipes and lower their successful lifespan. Watch what you flush to conserve your plumbing more.

Don't ignore slow drains.

All of the tips listed here have one main purpose: to decrease the quantity of pressure on your pipes. Slow drains are a indication of a blockage somewhere in your pipe system.

Blockages almost always cause increased pressure. The more pressure builds up within your plumbing, the harder they have to work and the faster they wear out.

If you ever notice your water draining slowly, don't wait to check into the issue. Try plunging or snaking the drain straight away. If this does not work, call a pro in Colorado. Whatever you do, don't leave a slow drain alone. The issue won't go away and will get worse and hurt your plumbing in the meantime.
