Step 1: Organizing the space

  1. Prep the space. Lay towels out to the floor and eliminate anything in your bathroom which may get in the way. Put in your work gloves and make sure that your tools are laid out and coordinated. Before you're installing your new toilet, you are going to need to remove the older one.
  2. Switch off the water. Locate the shutoff valve. It's usually located on the wall or floor near the toilet. You want to cut off the stream of water to the supply line and toilet tank.
  3. Disconnect the supply line. You are going to need a flexible wrench to achieve this step. Do your very best to maintain the water pipe stable as you disconnect the line.

Step 2: Removing the old bathroom

  1. Separate the tank in the bowl. Here is the first step to dismantling your older toilet. Removing the tank first makes taking apart the remainder of the toilet simpler to handle. Keep in mind that a number of bathrooms have connected bowls and tanks. Do not attempt to distinguish them in this circumstance. If your toilet has another tank and bowl, then you need to unbolt the tank out of the bowl along with your adjustable wrench. Once you've disconnected the tank, then lift it straight up and off the bowl. Place it aside in a predetermined area for later.
  2. Unbolt the bowl. After eliminating the tank, then you must unbolt the bowl from the ground. Most bathrooms have plastic caps on top of the ground bolts. If you can't just pull these off, consider popping them off with assistance from your screwdriver.
  3. Assess the bowl bolts and flange. These are the components that will join your new bathroom to the floor. Be certain that they aren't rusted, broken, or cracked.

Step 3: Installing the new toilet

  1. Install the new wax ring. This is going to be the buffer between the old flange along with your new toilet. Simply place the wax ring in the right space on the flange.
  2. Place your bathroom on the flange. Align the bolt holes on the bowl's bottom with the floor flange's bolts. Make sure that you have a spotter around to help you with the potential heavy lifting.
  3. Bolt the bathroom to the floor. Do not forget to put a washer and nut down on each bolt before tightening them. Attach the tank the identical way you removed the old one. After this is finished, you'll bolt everything together so it is secure and reattach the distribution line. Congratulations, you just installed a toilet!
