Replacing a shower head is a do-it-yourself pipes project that many homeowners can successfully tackle. Perhaps you wish to update to a new, ecofriendly water-savingshower head. Maybe you wish to add some design using a LED shower head. Or maybe your shower head is outdated and deteriorated and you just need a new one. No matter the reason, we're here to help you through the process step-by-step.
Before we begin, you should collect all of the materials and tools you will need. Grab a tarp, a couple towels, some Teflon tape, an adjustable wrench, and your new showerhead. If you do not have have one of these items, then pick them up at the nearest home improvement store in Arvada.
This sounds obvious, but we are serious. Make sure your shower is as off as off can be. Turn the knobs just as far as they will go. If you don't, you could get sprayed or dribbled on at the upcoming actions. You might also turn your water off entirely, though that is not vital.
Place your tarp or towels directly into the bathtub or shower floor. Make sure you have something directly beneath the shower head and covering the drain. Your towel or tarp will grab little pieces that fall off until they go down the drain.
Wrap a towel round the shower arm foundation. Use some thing to hold the towel in place while you unscrew the showerhead. Simply take another towel and wrap it round the showerhead. Grip its foundation with your adjustable wrench.
Use the wrench to twist the mind counter-clockwise and unscrew it in the arm. Once it is unscrewed, clean the shower arm threads with a different towel (or rag). If you really want to clean things up, you might wash down everything with an old toothbrush.
Step 4: Tape the shower arm threads.
Wrap your own teflon tape around the threads of the shower arm two or three times. Press the tape into the grooves as you go, wrapping it as tightly as possible. You want it to embed properly to create a seal and then embed the tape from the threads. Make sure you're wrap clockwise, so you don't undo the wrapping when you twist in the showerhead.
All of showerheads attach to shower arms fairly much exactly the exact same manner whether they are fixed, mounted, or hand-held. Place the new shower head onto the now-taped arm. Twist it into place. Wrap both the arm and the head in a rag, cloth, or towel. Use the adjustable wrench to tighten the showerhead on the arm just as much as you can.
Twist the knobs to let the water stream. Check for any leaks or leaks. Be certain that the water pressure is exactly what you expect. In case you noticing leaking, then unscrew the showerhead and employ additional tape to the arm. Screw the showerhead back as closely as possible and try again.
